The ceramic-polymer-based panels are Composhield’s lightweight concept in ballistic/blast protection: During the last decade the panels based on ceramics have proven to be the ultimate ballistic material.
Composhield’s lightweight panel is a composite structure, which is based on an extremely flexible polymer binder that provides the structural integrity. The active elements in the panels are the disrupter (ceramic front) and the absorber (fiber reinforced polymer backing). The design is currently being patented (Patent Pending: GB 0314538.0, PCT/EP04/006540)
